Went to St. Louis today- had a vision therapy session with an OT. She taught me how to use contrasting and lighting to improve my seeing capabilities. Also showed me how to strategically scan areas so I don’t miss anything, when walking, clearing off a table, looking for the kids… I have some adaptations to make around the house to help me function daily better. I am also getting in contact with some other resources to possibly get audio textbooks for school, and see what other options I have through the bureau of the blind and other state organizations.
I am also keeping my options open to getting training to use a white cane. Not sure how I feel about that yet, but I think it’s a logical idea at this point so I don’t have to rely on everyone to guide me.
Oh and I also got “guide” instructions for whoever guides me around.
